Overview

This highly interactive programme develops the skills, knowledge, and confidence required to plan, deliver, and evaluate effective training sessions.

It is aligned with the Highfield Level 3 International Award in Delivering Training and focuses on practical teaching techniques, learner engagement, and professional trainer development.

Target Audience

New or aspiring trainers, experienced trainers seeking formal certification, professionals who deliver internal or external training, and subject-matter experts seeking stronger training and presentation skills.

Assessment

A practical 20–30 minute micro-teach session, tutor observation, tutor-candidate discussion, and self-evaluation. All learning outcomes must be met; grading is Pass, Merit, or Distinction.

Certification

Successful learners receive the Highfield Level 3 International Award in Delivering Training. The qualification does not expire; continuous professional development is recommended.

The programme combines training theory, practical delivery, evaluation, and reflective practice:

Course Objectives

Plan and prepare effective training sessions
Write structured lesson plans with clear learning outcomes
Deliver engaging and interactive sessions
Use a range of training methods and resources
Apply questioning and feedback techniques
Assess learner understanding
Evaluate performance and identify improvements

Modules 1–4

Introduction: teaching cycle, ground rules, icebreakers, energisers, and course expectations
Roles and responsibilities: effective trainers, responsibilities, learning styles, and learner needs
Planning and design: SMART outcomes, session structure, training methods, and adapting plans
Training resources: types, advantages, limitations, and effective material design

Modules 5–8

Preparing for delivery: health and safety, venue, equipment, logistics, and protocols
Delivery skills: communication, presentation, learning environment, questioning, feedback, and learner management
Evaluation: formative and summative assessment, effectiveness, and reflective practice
Micro-teach: 30-minute delivery, peer observation, feedback, self-evaluation, and improvement planning

Training Methods and Future Support

Interactive sessions, group discussions, and practical exercises
Trainer demonstrations, micro-teaching practice, and peer or tutor feedback
Lesson planning, course structuring, and learning objectives
Presentation, engagement, materials, learner assessment, feedback, and reflective practice
