This qualification develops essential life-saving skills in basic life support and the safe use of an automated external defibrillator (AED). Learners practise CPR, AED operation, casualty assessment, and confident responses to life-threatening emergencies.
The course is relevant to healthcare personnel and first responders as well as teachers, coaches, community leaders, and others who may need to act in an emergency.
Target Audience
Healthcare professionals, emergency responders, teachers, education staff, students in medical or healthcare programmes, and others who may need to provide basic life support and use an AED.
Entry Requirements
There are no specific entry requirements. Learners are advised to have at least Level 1 literacy and must be physically able to perform CPR effectively.
Assessment
Ongoing practical observation plus a five-question multiple-choice theory paper. All theory questions must be answered correctly.
