Overview

This ECITB course provides learners with the essential knowledge and practical skills required to enter, work in, and exit confined spaces safely.

The course covers hazard awareness, permit-to-work requirements, safe systems of work, gas monitoring, personal and respiratory protective equipment, emergency procedures, and self-evacuation. It references international good practice and Qatar Construction Specifications 2024.

Course Objectives

On completion of the training, participants should be able to:

Identify confined spaces and associated hazards.
Explain permit-to-work requirements and entry conditions.
Recognise signs and symptoms of exposure to hazardous atmospheres.
Apply control measures, including ventilation and gas monitoring.
Use PPE, RPE, escape sets, and safety equipment safely.
Explain the roles and responsibilities of entrants, attendants, and supervisors.
Follow safe entry, working, and exit procedures.
Respond appropriately to emergencies and carry out self-evacuation.

Target Audience

Workers required to enter and work inside confined spaces, including maintenance personnel, construction workers, technicians, and others involved in confined-space activities who need to understand safe entry procedures and responsibilities.

Certification

Successful candidates will receive an ECITB Confined Space Entrant Certificate, subject to the applicable ECITB scheme requirements.
