Overview

This qualification supports people who carry out risk assessments in low-risk premises. It covers risk-assessment principles, the relationship between hazard and risk, and the practical application of those principles through a workplace risk assessment.

Target Audience

Managers, supervisors, safety officers, and other personnel responsible for conducting workplace risk assessments and supporting regulatory compliance.

Entry Requirements

Learners must be at least 16 years old and must be able to understand and write English, the language of instruction and examination.

Assessment

Part 1 is a 60-minute end-of-course MCQ examination, with a pass mark of 20 out of 30. Part 2 is a centre-set and internally marked risk-assessment activity.

Identifying hazards and people at risk

Selecting controls using the hierarchy of control

Evaluating existing controls

Applying controls to prevent exposure, reduce consequences, and manage emergencies

Practical Risk Assessment

Collecting workplace and hazard information

Analysing current risk levels and exposure

Determining suitable recommendations

Recording and communicating findings effectively
