Overview

This course develops the knowledge, skills, and safe working attitudes required to erect, alter, and dismantle scaffolding systems.

Learners study material selection and faults, basic design principles, ties, scaffold drawings, erection and dismantling procedures, and the safe construction of independent, tower, and birdcage scaffolds.

Target Audience

Scaffolders who need to erect, alter, or dismantle simple or complex scaffolding structures safely.

Entry Requirements

Learners must be at least 21 years old, medically fit, able to climb scaffold ladders, and free from a fear of heights.

Delivery Method

Day 1: classroom training. Day 2: classroom and practical training. Day 3: practical and theory assessments.

Reference standards and guidance
Personal protective equipment
Scaffolding hazards and control measures
Scaffolding systems and terminology
Material types, requirements, familiarisation, and faults
Step-by-step erection and dismantling procedures
Basic design familiarisation
Safety during erection, alteration, and dismantling

Practical Units

Static tower with two lifts, including foot tie
Nine-standard birdcage scaffold with two lifts, including foot tie
Independent scaffold with return
Safe erection, alteration, and dismantling practice
Practical assessment
