OBJECTIVES

• The Highfield Level 3 International Award in First Aid at Work and the Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator is a qualification aimed at providing candidates with the necessary knowledge, understanding, and skills to support first aid and the use of a defibrillator in the workplace.

TARGET AUDIENCE

• This qualification is aimed at providing candidates with the necessary knowledge, understanding, and skills to support first aid and the use of a defibrillator in the workplace.   

PREREQUISITE / ENTRY REQUIREMENT

In order to register for this qualification, learners are required to meet the following entry requirements:

• • Learners are advised to have a minimum of Level 1 in English and Mathematics.
  • It is recommended that learners are a minimum of 14 years of age; are physically capable of completing the practical assessment.

• Roles and responsibilities of a first aider
• Assessing incidents
• Managing causalities who are: unresponsive and not breathing, managing casualties in shock, administering first aid to causalities with suspected: head, spinal, chest injuries, burns, scalds, eye injuries
• Suffering from sudden poisoning and anaphylaxis
• Knowing how to safely use an automated external defibrillator

• To effectively deliver and assess this qualification, it is recommended that Centre do not exceed the ratio of 1 qualified tutor/assessor to a maximum of 12 candidates in any one instance.
