OVERVIEW
To provide participants with the knowledge and practical skills to effectively perform the role and responsibilities of Fire Marshal.
This training course is aimed at nominated personnel who have responsibility for managing others in the event of a fire emergency and may also respond to incidents involving locations within the student’s company premises. The primary responsibility is for managing the emergency response to fire and the evacuation of premises, which may include other related emergencies to ensure the safety of life and reduce damage to property and business.
The training course will provide them with the skills to ensure their safety and the safety of others in an emergency or the event of a fire.
OBJECTIVES
On completion of training, the students will show understanding of and be able to demonstrate the following tasks:.
Management of fire risks and recognition and reduction of fire-related incidents. Reducing the causes and effects of any fire on company premises. Managing the efficient evacuation of premises in the event of a fire or other related emergency.
The chemistry and causes of fire; extinguishing chemistry and methodology; identification of fire type; and selection of suitable and appropriate fire extinguishers.

COURSE SKILLS SETS
Skill sets are based on basic training in the following subjects: building evacuation and accounting for personnel, fire cause and effect reduction, fire science and chemistry, evacuation, and emergency response.
COURSE STANDARDS AND OUTCOMES
The training course standards are paralleled against a variety of standards across the UK industrial codes of practice, including, General provisions of The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and other relevant regulations, QCS 2014. The Regulatory Reform Order 2005.
On completion of training, all students will be expected to show competence by demonstrating all the above skill sets in a realistic simulation.
Students failing any risk-critical outcome of the syllabus may be removed from the training course and be required to undergo a period of further training before re-attending.
