The training course standards are paralleled against a variety of standards across the UK industrial Regulations and codes of practice including, The Health and Safety First Aid a Work Regulations 2013, The Regulatory Reform Order 2005, The Work at Height Regulations 2005, The Confined Space Regulations 1997, General provisions of The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and other relevant regulations.
This basic training course will provide learners with the skills and information to ensure their own safety and the safety of others in an emergency situation and in the event of an accident or injury.
target audience
This course is aimed at candidates who may occasionally work in difficult or hazardous environments or may need to have additional skills to deal with occasional emergencies.

course benefits/ progression opportunities
On completion of training the students will show understanding of and be able to demonstrate the following tasks:
- Basic first aid including ensuring their own safety, checking the level of response of a casualty, control of bleeding, basic resuscitation, basic CPR, control of the cervical spine, packaging and transporting a casualty.
- Understanding the mechanisms of fire, determine the type of material on fire, select and use a suitable portable fire extinguisher. Treatment of burns from fire, steam and chemicals, use of fire blankets.
- Understand the theoretical and practical applications of safe practices when working in confined spaces or at height in the workplace
- Practical firefighting and simulated casualty treatment.

Skill sets are based on basic training in the following subjects:
- First aid
- Firefighting

- Working in Confined Spaces.

Course Tutor
- 1 Trainer for every 12 students (maximum)
assessment
- Continuous assessment with subject questioning
- Written Multiple-choice question exam
Candidates will be continually assessed on their performance and responses to subject questioning and by written MCQ assessment of their theoretical knowledge. Students failing any risk critical outcome of the syllabus may be removed from the training course and be required to undergo a period of further training prior to re attending.
