PADI Basic Open Water Diver (HSE)
THE COURSE IS DIVIDED INTO 3 STEPS

PADI Open Water Diver course consists of Theory Session, 5 Confined & Practical Session (Pool) and 4 Open Water Dives (Sea). These steps are performance based.

After completion of the theory and confined practical steps, you will dive in an open water environment (sea) to complete the open water course.The course can be completed in just one week

STEP 1 : THEORY LESSON (CLASSROOM)

Learn Buoyancy and Pressure Concepts, Equipment Usage, Hand Signals and more!

When you enroll in the PADI Open Water Diver course, a rich and informative manual and DVD will be given to you.

The manual allows you to preview into the course while you do the independent study and it serves as a livelong reference after you have completed the course.

In the 5 chapters of PADI Open Water Diver manual, each ends with a knowledge review and they are to be completed as independent study.

Your Knowledge review answers will be discussed with PADI instructor to assess your understanding to the manual contents and revisit the diving table.

By the end of the theory session, you will attend a written exam which you need to pass to start the second step of the course “Confined & Practical Skills)

STEP 2 : CONFINED & PRACTICAL SKILLS

Learn Equipment Assembly and Familiarization, Breathing Underwater, Buoyancy Control and more!!

PADI Open Water Diver manual describes all the practical skills that you will learn during the course. Using the manual you could visualize (mentally performing) those skills, it will greatly aid your learning and hence you will dig up all the fun during course.

Usually, it begins with water skills assessment – 300m swim with mask, snorkel and fins and 10min float on the water surface. The instructor(s) and/or professional assistant(s) will introduce all skills by

2. Demonstration and

3. Practice, every now and then the instructor(s) and/or professional assistant(s) will debrief and discuss with you regarding the skills

STEP 3 : OPEN WATER DIVES (SEA)

Practice the learned diving skills and enjoy the underwater marine life!!

All the preparation, all the effort were to get ready for the big day, for your first descend into the blue water, your first natural encounter with fascinating aquatic animals. The experience is simply amazing accompanying by the breathtaking marine life

Dive 1

• Dive briefing and planning discussion.

• Dive equipment setup with dive buddy.

• Water entry as practiced during the pool practical training.

• Buoyancy check – Lead weight estimation.

• Controlled descend using the descent line.

• Underwater exploration, aquatic life observation.

• Cramp release exercise for self and buddy.

• Controlled ascend.

• Exit the water to dive boat, sequentially remove weight then fins.

Dive 2

• Dive briefing and planning discussion.

• Dive equipment setup with dive buddy.

• Buddy predive safety check – BWRAF.

• Water entry as practiced during the pool practical training.

• Controlled descend with descent line as a reference.

• Neutral buoyancy (Fin Pivot).

• Clearing a partially and fully flooded mask.

• Regulator Recovery (Sweep and Reach methods).

• Out of Air management.

• Oral inflation at the surface.

• Underwater exploration, aquatic life interaction.

• Controlled emergency swimming ascent.

• Tired buddy tow on the surface with Scuba equipment.

• Establish buoyancy by removing weights using the quick release.

• Exit the water to dive boat, sequentially remove weight then fins.

Dive 3

• Dive briefing and planning discussion.

• Dive equipment setup with dive buddy.

• Buddy predive safety check – BWRAF.

• Water entry as practiced during the pool practical training.

• Remove and replace the Scuba and weight system at the surface.

• Controlled descend.

• Neutral buoyancy (Fin Pivot) by inflating the BCD with oral inflation.

• Underwater exploration, aquatic life interaction.

• Controlled ascend.

• Perform a 50 metres surface snorkel swim in a straight line.

• Perform a navigation swim with a compass underwater in a straight line.

• Exit the water to dive boat, sequentially remove weight then fins

Dive 4

• Dive briefing and planning discussion.

• Dive equipment setup with dive buddy.

• Buddy predive safety check – BWRAF.

• Water entry as practiced during the pool practical training.

• Controlled descend.

• Buoyancy control and hover underwater.

• Mask remove and replacement while underwater.

• Underwater exploration, aquatic life interaction.

• Feeding fish

• Controlled ascend.

• Exit the water to dive boat, sequentially remove weight then fins.
